RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and Wide Open Music present ‘Rain Falling Up’ at The Convention Centre Dublin.
DUBLIN – 18 September, 2012 – ‘Rain Falling Up’ – a modern orchestral, choral and visual performance for children, will take place at The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) on Saturday 10th November, 2012.
Performed by the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra with live, big screen animation, the concert features a 500 strong children’s chorus, from schools all over Ireland. This is the first time the concert will take place in Dublin.
Performances are at 12:00 and 17:00. Tickets, priced at €15 (adults) and €10 (children and OAPs), are available from the National Concert Hall.
Pre-Concert performances of a specially composed new piece by Brian Irvine, performed by the Julianstown Youth Orchestra and conducted by the composer, take place at 11:30 and 16:30 in the foyer of The Convention Centre Dublin, with free admission.
Rain Falling Up
Jake knew things. He knew that the world weighed six septillion kilos - that’s a six with 23 zeros - but in fact he knew that it weighed nothing at all!’
Jake is a walking encyclopedia and his specialty is gravity. One day, however, after being blamed for breaking his Mum's favourite vase he comes to the conclusion that gravity isn’t his friend anymore. So he builds himself a gravity switch so he can turn gravity off. Life seems so much more fun when you can float but when Jake finds himself drifting alone through the darkest corners of the universe he realises that perhaps he has made a mistake.
