The CCD Launches Six New Translated Sub-sites
DUBLIN – 13 March 2015 – The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) has translated key pages of its new fully responsive website www.theccd.ie into six additional languages – German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch and Irish.
This upgrade is in response to a year-on-year increase in European website visitors since the Centre opened in 2010. The venue also analysed the country source of all online enquiries, and used this as a basis to select the top five languages that would be most relevant to potential clients.
As well as helping international clients find out more about the venue, the translated ‘sub-sites’ will help www.theccd.ie be found in international search results, and are part of an ongoing initiative to reach out to the European market.
Paul Carnell, Sales Director at The CCD comments “This year we are concentrating on driving business from new markets, and we have expanded our Sales team to include a dedicated Account Manager to focus on Europe and the US. The new translated pages will help us pursue this goal, and will be a great asset for The CCD and our clients to have.”
Aimed at giving European conference organisers lots of useful information about the venue in their own language, The CCD has translated pages on ‘Why Dublin’, ‘Why The CCD’, ‘Conferences’, ‘About the Building’ and ‘Our Services’. While the ‘Gaelige’ (Irish) pages are focused more on local interest, and include information about the building and the venue’s vision and values, as well as its history, accreditations and green credentials.
The translated ‘sub-sites’ can be selected from the menu at the top of the website. In addition, if a user’s browser setting is configured to one of these languages, an automatic pop-up will ask if they wish to view the translated pages instead.
The CCD’s fully responsive website was launched in July 2014 and has been well received by clients and industry partners. A case study on the website will feature in a book on the International Conference Industry due to be published later this year, and the site was also nominated for an eircom Spider Award in 2014.
